Call for Presentations

The 2nd Systems Engineering Interoperability Conference is a practical and industry-oriented event dedicated to addressing interoperability challenges within the systems engineering process. This conference aims to provide a venue for organizations, academicians, practitioners, tool vendors, and end-users to share their interoperability needs and explore existing approaches, tools, techniques, trends, and goals.

We invite professionals and experts to submit proposals for presentations that align with the conference topics. This is an opportunity to share your current interoperability challenges, requirements, and vision for the future, as well as to engage with solution providers and receive proposals tailored to your needs.

Submission Guidelines

  • Submit a presentation proposal title and description of no more than 250 words.
  • Include a brief biography highlighting your expertise in the subject area.
  • Ensure the proposal clearly outlines the objectives and key takeaways of your presentation.
  • Deadline: 31 May 2025.

We look forward to your contributions and to advancing the dialogue on systems engineering interoperability.

Description

According to the latest definitions, a digital thread can be conceived as an integrated, connected, and transformable framework of data and functions that provides a comprehensive view of a system’s lifecycle. It must cover from initial specification and design, through production, operation, and disposal. It connects data and functions from various sources, tools, and systems, enabling seamless information flow and online visibility into all system life dimensions. A significant portion of an enterprise’s intellectual property and possibly its unique value proposition lies implicitly (or explicitly) inside its digital threads. As system complexity grows and product development cycles shrink, managing an enterprise’s digital threads becomes critical to an organization’s success.

The consequence of such complicated environments, where diverse engineering tools ecosystems must be integrated to enable proper digital thread management, is that systems engineering interoperability becomes the silver bullet for success.

Indeed, a wise post states that “Systems Engineering rigor needs an Interoperability framework”. This framework can be conceptual or real, but the Digital thread, MBSE, lifecycle management, and proper systems engineering have become dependent on Interoperability between and among information, processes, methods, and digital tools.

For this and many other reasons, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid will organize the second Systems Engineering Interoperability Conference from 8 to 9 October in Madrid (Spain).

Main Conference Topics

The conference will cover the following topics regarding Interoperability demands and needs within Systems Engineering (Missions oriented programs, multinational space programs, large multinational programs, SME projects, Acquisition programs, SW factories):

  • Collaborative design and interoperability
  • Delegated Design (OEM / TIER or TIER /TIER)
  • Internet of Tools: interoperability within the toolchain
  • Digital thread management
  • Reuse for Interoperability
  • Traceability between different artifacts types
  • Semantic interoperability
  • Integration of document-centric and model-based approaches
  • Technical Management Digitalization as an enabler for interoperability
  • Standardization
  • Domain-specific needs
